Three Decades of Islamic Criminal Law Legislation in Iran: A Legislative History Analysis with Emphasis on the Amendments of the 2013 Islamic Penal Code
The present paper introduces the traditional perception of Islamic
criminal law and studies its status in the Iranian legal system during
two eras of legislation; from 1906 to 1979 and since then up to the
present day. The paper’s main areas of attention are the legislative
history analysis of Islamic criminal law during the past three decades
and a comparison between the 1991 and 2013 Islamic Penal Codes. It
concludes by enumerating the results of the comparison between similar
provisions under the two Codes.
